Fragestellung
Wie ist der Forschungsstand in der Alphabetisierung in Deutschland und in ausgewählten europäischen und außereuropäischen Ländern?
Projektziel
Das Projekt "Alphabetisierung/Grundbildung - State of the art" ist Teilvorhaben und integrativer Bestandteil des vom BMBF geförderten Projektverbundes "Grundlagen für Alphabetisierung und Grundbildung. Wissenschaftliche Vorraussetzungen für die Institutionalisierung und Professionalität". Ziel des Teilvorhabens ist die systematische und historische Aufbereitung des Forschungstandes in der Alphabetisierung und Grundbildung im Hinblick auf Transfermöglichkeiten. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte bilden Begrifflichkeiten, Konzepte, nationale Aktionspläne, bildungspolitische Strategiepapiere, Curricula, Theorie-Praxis-Bezüge, Standards, die Dokumentation von Projekten und Best-Practice-Beispielen.
Dabei wird der Blick über die Landesgrenzen hinaus reichen und sowohl Entwicklungen als auch Programme in Europa, außereuropäischen Industrieländern und Entwicklungsländern mit einbeziehen. Die Einbettung in den internationalen Kontext trägt zu einer in Deutschland fehlenden Bestandsaufnahme des Themengebietes im europäischen und außereuropäischen Ausland bei, fördert den internationalen Erfahrungsaustausch und ermöglicht den Transfer von Erfahrungen und Erkenntnissen anderer Länder.
Das Projektvorhaben leistet einen Beitrag zur Verbesserung des Forschungsstandes in der Alphabetisierung/Grundbildung und zur nationalen Umsetzung der Literacy Decade - Education for All (2003-2012).

Adult Literacy – the state of the art from a historical and systematic perspective in respect of/ in terms of transferability
The project Literacy/Basic Education – State of the art from a historical and systematic perspective in terms of transferability is part of the association The fundamentals of Literacy/Basic Education financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The purpose of the project is to enhance the understanding and knowledge of the development of adult literacy and adult literacy practices. The documentation and analysis of concepts, strategic approaches, and best practice in the Federal Republic of Germany and in a number of selected countries across and outside the European Union will be used to draw lessons for academic and practical approaches. Of main interest are the development of terminology, the interrelationship of literacy and migration and of literacy and the concept of inclusion in both theory and practice. The incorporation of international perspectives will pave the way for transferability and will support the international exchange of experiences, to disseminate information, raise awareness, and stimulate programmes and initiatives.
The project contributes to research findings in the area of adult literacy and to the national translation of the United Nations Literacy Decade – Education for All (2003-2012).
